How to choose cycling gloves for wet weather?

When choosing cycling gloves for rainy conditions, the most important factors are water protection, temperature and ride duration. Waterproof gloves with a waterproof membrane are better suited to prolonged rain, while water-resistant models may be sufficient for shorter rides or light drizzle.

  • Water protection. Check whether the gloves are waterproof or simply water-resistant. Seam construction and cuff fit also matter, as water can enter through the top of the gloves.
  • Insulation. For milder weather, choose lightweight gloves that help prevent your hands from overheating. Insulated models, such as the GripGrab Polaris 2 Waterproof Winter, are better suited to cold, wet conditions.
  • Handlebar grip. In wet conditions, it's important to maintain a secure grip on the handlebars and brake levers. Non-slip palm details can improve grip, while overly thick gloves may reduce control and dexterity.
  • Size and fit. Gloves shouldn't squeeze your fingers or restrict movement. Follow the manufacturer's size chart and make sure you can comfortably operate the brakes and gear shifters.
