How to Choose Cycling Glasses?

When choosing cycling glasses, consider where you usually ride, the lighting conditions and how well the glasses fit your face. Sports glasses with a wide field of vision make it easier to see the road and your surroundings, while a secure fit helps keep them in place when riding over uneven terrain.

For road cycling and gravel riding, lightweight glasses that provide good protection from the wind are often preferred. On forest trails, pay particular attention to visibility in shaded areas and rapidly changing light conditions.

Which Lenses Are Best for Different Riding Conditions?

Category 3 lenses are generally suitable for bright sunlight, while lighter category 1–2 lenses may be more comfortable on cloudy days or wooded routes. Clear category 0 lenses are useful in low-light conditions.

If you frequently ride routes where sunlight and shade alternate, photochromic lenses are worth considering. They automatically adjust their tint, although the speed and range of adjustment depend on the model. Oakley Prizm and Bliz Nordic Light technologies can help enhance contrast in certain riding conditions.

How to Choose the Right Size and Fit with a Helmet?

Cycling glasses should sit securely on your nose and temples without causing pressure or obstructing your view of the road. Consider the frame width, nose pads and temple design. The Velonova range includes standard, narrower and wider models, as well as smaller "Small" versions.

If you wear your glasses with a cycling helmet, check that the temples do not cause pressure beneath the helmet and that the frame does not interfere with it. Ventilation openings and sufficient space between the lenses and your face can help reduce fogging.

Bliz or Oakley Cycling Glasses?

Bliz offers a variety of sports glasses, including Fusion, Matrix and Breeze, with different sizes and lens options. The Oakley range includes Sutro, Radar, Jawbreaker and other models, some of which feature Prizm lens technology depending on the configuration.

When comparing brands, consider not only the design or lens technology but also how well a particular model fits and the conditions in which you will use it. If your chosen model supports interchangeable lenses, you can explore additional options in our replacement lenses category. Always check compatibility before purchasing.
