When riding MTB forest trails, downhill tracks or in bike parks, the knees are among the parts of the body most commonly injured in a fall. Knee pads help absorb impacts and protect against scrapes. They are also useful for children riding bikes or scooters. It is important to choose a model that provides the required level of protection without excessively restricting movement.

At Velonova, you will find 7iDP knee pads, including the Sam Hill, Project, Flex, Sam Hill Lite and Transition models. We also offer Youth Flex knee pads for teenagers, Kid's Transition models for children and MICRO kids' knee pads suitable for cycling and scooter riding.

Which knee pads should you choose?

For MTB and enduro riding, where you spend a lot of time pedalling, a good balance of protection, flexibility and ventilation is important. For downhill, BMX or bike parks, it is worth considering models that provide a higher level of protection.

For children riding bikes, balance bikes or scooters, the most important factors are the right size, comfort and a secure fit that keeps the pads in place while moving.

Knee pads also differ in their construction and fastening systems, so before buying, consider where and how you ride most often.

How to choose the right knee pad size?

Follow the size chart for the specific manufacturer and model, and measure the areas of the leg indicated in the chart. Properly fitting cycling knee pads should stay securely in place while pedalling and moving on the bike without feeling excessively tight or restricting knee movement.

Kids' protective gear should also be selected according to the measurements provided by the manufacturer rather than based solely on the child's age.

For greater protection, knee pads can be combined with elbow pads, head protection and hand protection.

If you are unsure about the size or level of protection, contact us – we will help you choose according to your or your child's riding style.

For MTB and enduro riding, lighter and more flexible knee pads are usually a good choice, as they provide greater comfort while pedalling. For downhill riding and bike parks, it is worth choosing more robust models that provide a higher level of protection.

Follow the manufacturer's size chart and measure the areas of the leg indicated in it. Knee pads should stay securely in place without feeling excessively tight, slipping down or restricting knee movement.

Properly fitted knee pads should stay in place while pedalling and moving actively on the bike. They should not rotate around the leg or slip down, and you should be able to bend your knee freely.

Kids' knee pads are best selected according to the manufacturer's size chart and the child's leg measurements rather than age alone. The pads should stay securely in place, allow freedom of movement and be suitable for the child's activity – cycling, balance biking or scooter riding.

Some kids' knee pads can be used for both cycling and scooter riding if they are designed for both activities by the manufacturer. For sport-oriented MTB, enduro or downhill riding, it is better to choose knee pads specifically designed for cycling and suited to the intensity of riding and required level of protection.
