Colnago V5Rs Road Bike – Lightweight Construction, Aerodynamics and Top-Level Racing Performance

Colnago V5Rs – a premium carbon road bike designed for professional racing and cyclists seeking maximum efficiency on every kilometre. It is the latest generation of the legendary Colnago V series, combining low weight, advanced aerodynamics, high stiffness and precise handling. The V5Rs was developed around the demands of modern racing and the experience of athletes from UAE Team Emirates-XRG and UAE Team ADQ. The bike is designed to perform equally effectively on steep climbs, fast descents and intense sprints, providing an advantage across a wide variety of race profiles.

Key features:

• Ultra-light carbon frame: the Colnago V5Rs features the lightest frame in the manufacturer’s history. The unpainted size 485 frame without removable components weighs just 685 g, or 1027 g together with the carbon fork. Compared with the previous-generation V4Rs, the frame and fork combination is 146 g, or approximately 12.5%, lighter.
• Advanced monocoque carbon construction: the one-piece carbon fibre frame is manufactured using updated carbon layup technologies. Precisely controlled fibre placement in different areas of the frame reduces weight while maintaining high stiffness, load resistance and efficient power transfer.
• Improved aerodynamics: new, narrower frame tube profiles and an optimised front end reduce aerodynamic drag. The frame’s frontal area measures 250 cm² – 13% less than the previous V4Rs model. In the manufacturer’s wind tunnel testing at 50 km/h with direct head-on airflow, a 9 W aerodynamic advantage over the V4Rs was recorded.
• High stiffness and rapid response: the optimised bottom bracket, head tube and rear triangle construction provide efficient power transfer. Despite the reduced frame weight, the stiffness required for professional racing is maintained, allowing rapid response to accelerations and intense sprints.
• Updated carbon fork: the lighter fork with a semi-round profile is designed for more precise handling and improved aerodynamics. Its construction provides stability at high speeds and reliable steering response on technical descents.
• Clearance for wider tyres: the frame is compatible with road tyres up to 32 mm actual width while maintaining at least 4 mm of clearance between the tyre and the frame or fork. Wider tyres provide more grip, improve comfort and allow more efficient riding on rough asphalt.
• Performance race geometry: 408 mm chainstays provide quick response to rider input, while frame-size-specific head tube angles and fork offsets help maintain precise handling and stability. The geometry is designed for an aerodynamic and aggressive racing position.
• Colnago CC.01 integrated cockpit: the carbon handlebar with integrated stem improves front-end aerodynamics and creates a seamless construction. Internal routing for brake hoses and electronic drivetrain wiring reduces the effect of external components on airflow.
• SLT headset bearings: specially treated, long-lasting bearings provide smooth steering and reduced maintenance requirements. The system uses a 1 1/8-inch upper bearing and a 1 1/4-inch lower bearing.
• Aerodynamic carbon seatpost: the seatpost is specifically designed for the V5Rs frame, providing secure mounting and a clean, integrated appearance. The standard version has 15 mm of offset, while a 0 mm offset version is available separately for individual fit adjustment.
• BSA 68 mm threaded bottom bracket: the reliable threaded construction simplifies component installation and maintenance while helping reduce the risk of unwanted noises.
• UDH universal derailleur hanger: the standardised rear derailleur mounting system makes replacement parts easier to source and ensures compatibility with modern drivetrains.
• Electronic drivetrains: depending on the selected build, the bike can be equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Shimano Ultegra Di2, SRAM RED AXS, SRAM Force AXS or Campagnolo Super Record Wireless groupsets.
• Colnago Blockchain technology: digital bike registration allows frame authenticity to be verified, ownership to be registered and service history to be stored. When the bike is registered within 30 days of purchase, the warranty can be extended to three years according to the manufacturer’s conditions.
